On Sunday 8th October, the final of the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Grade C Championship took place at Horse of The Year Show (HOYS) at the NEC, Birmingham. Having competed in qualifiers all over the country, throughout the year, 22 horse and rider combinations qualified into the famous HOYS ‘Arena of Dreams’ for the championship.
Around a course of 1.40m, James Whitaker took the title on Just Call Me Henry in the British Horse Feeds sponsored class, winning in 34.03 seconds, just 1.81 seconds ahead of second placed Alexander Barr on Talkabout Me.
After his winning round, James explained “he’s naturally fast, if you looked at the time of my first round, he’ll be one of the quickest, so I knew if I kept the jumps up, he wouldn’t be far away. I don’t want to jinx anything, but he finds it all effortless and wins at almost every show he goes to. I need to keep him and hope someone doesn’t come along and wants to buy him.”

Qualifiers for this championship take place all over the country including Bramham Horse Trials, South of England Show, Herts County Show, Royal Highland Show, Royal Norfolk Show, Bicton Arena and British Showjumping National Championships to name a few.
