In a landmark event that bridges the international polo community, Guards Polo Club recently celebrated an exciting new reciprocal partnership with the PLYRS Club, based in Wellington, Florida. To mark this collaboration, the two institutions hosted an official launch match on The Queen’s Ground, setting a new tone for cross-Atlantic cooperation in the sport.

A Star-Studded Matchup
The match showcased a remarkable blend of world-class talent and club dedication. Representing the founding members of the prestigious US-based PLYRS Club were four of the world’s best players: Pablo MacDonough, Juan Martin Nero, Hilario Ulloa, and Nicolas Pieres. These elite athletes were joined on The Queen’s Ground by Guards Polo Club players Brian Woulfe, Chris Bruckner, Rajendra Jain, and Flavio Porciani.
A Gentleman’s Game
The friendly competition saw the two teams—GUARDS PLYRS BLUE and GUARDS PLYRS WHITE—deliver a thrilling performance that ended in a 5-5 draw, embodying the spirit of the occasion. Following the match, prizes were presented by Guards Polo Club Chairman Lt Col Sean O’Dwyer and Gonzalo Pieres Sr. The players were also proudly outfitted in team shirts kindly gifted by La Martina.
As this partnership moves forward, the focus shifts to the future. Guards Polo Club has expressed great enthusiasm for the next phase of this collaboration: crossing the Atlantic to experience the polo fields of the PLYRS Club in Palm Beach in the near future.
