Newcomer Team Clé de Peau Beauté Wins the 28th Berenberg German Polo Masters

Sylt/Keitum, August 3, 2026 – With perfect polo weather, a full house and a fantastic atmosphere, the 28th Berenberg German Polo Masters came to a close in Keitum-Siidik on Sunday. Newcomer Team Clé de Peau Beauté claimed the tournament title after a high-class final that remained wide open until the very end, defeating Team Berenberg 7–6.

Clé de Peau Beauté made a strong start and had already established a 6–3 lead by the end of the third chukker. But Team Berenberg refused to give in, fought their way back into the match and set the stage for a gripping finale. After taking a fall, team captain Ann-Kathrin Braendle returned to the saddle and finished the match to tremendous applause from the crowd. Together with Nicolas Rogerson, Manuel Carranza and Lukas Sdrenka, she held on to the narrow lead until the final whistle. Sdrenka scored three goals for the winning team.

Berenberg pushed the eventual tournament winners all the way to the final whistle. The team featured Udo Klein-Boelting, Markus Schreurs, Lala Laplacette and Francisco Macloughlin.

Berenberg has been the title sponsor of the German Polo Masters on Sylt for eleven years. The tournament will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2028. Berenberg first became involved in polo in 2001 and has since established itself as one of the sport’s most consistent and important supporters in Germany.

We are delighted by the large number of spectators who were able to experience top-class sport here over five days of play.”

The match for third place also delivered plenty of exciting polo. König Sylt faced Different Fashion Sylt & Blackforest Polo, with the contest remaining almost level at 4–4.5 into the third chukker. König Sylt then stepped up the pace to secure a 6–4.5 victory. Vanessa Schockemöhle, Patrick Maleitzke, Sebastian Schneberger and Ramiro Zavaleta therefore earned a well-deserved third place.

In the first match of the final day, Burckhardt’s Glide defeated PONY Club Kampen 8–3 in the play-off for fifth place. PONY Club Kampen had entered the tournament with its own polo team for the first time this year. The “young guns” from Hamburg nevertheless bowed out of the tournament having shown plenty of enthusiasm, determination and passion for the game. The Players Party hosted by PONY Club in Kampen on Saturday evening had also been met with great enthusiasm.

In addition to the top teams, outstanding individual performances over the course of the tournament were also recognised. Matias Maiquez of Team Different Fashion Sylt & Blackforest Polo was named Most Valuable Player, while the Best Playing Pony title went to Lala Laplacette’s mare Cascadia. The Best Horsemanship Award, presented for the first time this year to honour the tournament’s best groom, went to “Pato” amid huge cheers.

Event organiser Kiki Schneider summed up the tournament on a highly positive note: “With top-class polo, packed spectator stands and a final that remained exciting until the very last moment, the 28th Berenberg German Polo Masters came to a truly successful conclusion. We would like to thank all the spectators, players and sponsors, without whom an event like this would not be possible, and we are already looking forward to next year.”
