Uruguay, PoloHUB – For many polo players, sharing the field with Adolfo Cambiaso is the pinnacle of a lifelong dream. For Rupert Knauff, a relative newcomer to the sport, the opportunity to play alongside the legendary figure has been nothing short of transformative.

Speaking with PoloHUB during his stay in Uruguay, where he is competing with his team La Saga, Knauff described the experience as deeply inspiring. “Being around someone like Adolfo lifts your spirit on a personal level,” he reflected. “No matter how successful you may be in your professional or personal life, his presence pushes you to want to be better in every possible way.”

Knauff drew parallels with other sports icons: “Every young footballer dreams of playing with Messi, every tennis player of sharing a court with Nadal—so to spend time on the field with Adolfo is incredibly special. I am extremely grateful that he chose to spend part of his holiday with us, and it made the experience even more meaningful that Poroto was there as well.”

The joy extended beyond the field. Knauff shared how his children were thrilled by the chance to meet Cambiaso and his son Poroto: “They’re so excited they probably won’t sleep tonight.”

Beyond the personalities, Knauff praised the organization behind the scenes. He expressed gratitude to Jejo for making the opportunity possible for La Saga, and highlighted the quality of the horses provided during their time in Uruguay. “The horses have been superb, and I feel very lucky to be taking a few of them back to Europe for the coming season,” he said.

The impact of the experience has left Knauff and his teammates feeling “almost invincible.” With renewed motivation, La Saga is preparing to push hard in the upcoming European season. Looking ahead, Knauff is eager to begin the next tournament in a refreshed lineup, playing alongside Gonzalo Ferrari, Santi Taranco, and Benicio LaGuardia.

For Knauff, the chance to share the field with Adolfo Cambiaso was more than a sporting milestone—it was a moment of inspiration, gratitude, and renewed ambition that will shape his journey in polo for years to come.
