Statements by Juan Martín Gallego
The experience of the Thai Polo Open was intense and memorable. Juan Martín Gallego of the winning team shared his thoughts with Polo Journalist Federico Levy:
“Fede, well, Thai Polo Open here in Thailand, 6-8 goals, we had 4 teams – the Amibah team from Brunei, 22BR from Hong Kong, Fast Fish from China, and well, Thai Polo, the host team. We had 3 qualifying matches, and after those 3 matches, we faced Amiba in the semifinal. We won a very tough match by half a goal with 30 seconds left. It was really, really difficult, but we managed to win and advance to the final. In the final, we faced Fast Fish. Fast Fish had beaten 22BR in the semi. With Fast Fish, it was neck and neck until the last chukka – we were tied with 40 seconds left, and we won with a goal by Baltas Jauretche. I played with Jampi, Juan Pedro Girou, Baltasar Jauretche, Luciano Tattoni. That’s one side of it.”
Juan Martín also highlighted the gratitude towards Harald Link and Nunthinee Tanner:
“And to add something else, just super grateful to Harald Link and Nunthinee Tanner, who trusted me and gave me the opportunity to be in the team and reach this final that we really needed. We are very thankful to them, always.”
An Event to Remember
Beyond the thrilling polo matches, the Thai Polo Open 2025 distinguished itself with its charitable initiatives. Additionally, attendees enjoyed various activities, including show jumping competitions, horse feeding, horse riding, games, and a variety of food options.
The event offered a glamorous social atmosphere, attracting polo enthusiasts, celebrities, and dignitaries like Harald Link and Nunthinee Tanner, creating a unique fusion of sport, culture, and community.
