Wolsingham Show

Riders competed for the last few tickets to the Horse of the Year Show at this weekend’s British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifiers, which were held at the opposite ends of the nation at the Wolsingham Show and Dorset County Show.

Renowned riders John Whitaker and Guy Williams came forward to ride the challenging 14-fence course designed by Mark McGowan at the Wolsingham Show competition. Of the thirty-three starters, nine were able to earn a clear round and move on to the jump-off. Leonie Aitkenhead’s ride on Beverley Aitkenhead’s Rhapsody FG was the winning ride of the day, as she completed the course in a blistering 45.66 seconds.

Despite finishing just off the pace, Daniella Johnstone managed to secure the second and third places with her rides, Action Annie and Koning Albert.

Dorset County Show

On Sunday, we saw seven horse and rider combinations advance to the jump-off from the eleven riders that faced the 1.35m track at Dorset County Show. Four managed to maintain their clean sheet and end on a double clear.

Kilroy V and Ryan O’Sullivan finished the shortened jump-off course in 34.29 seconds, taking the win. Riding Johnny A, Kathryn Ellison put forth a strong chase, coming in just 0.06 seconds behind Ryan to take second place. Larette and Callie Chant (Ryan’s partner) finished in third place with 1.37 seconds over Ryan’s time.
