New Beginnings are a passionate former racehorse rehoming charity based in York who British Horse Feeds continue to support for their 8th year.

Charity owners Pam and Kevin Atkinson work hard and provide support to former racehorses that are leaving the racing industry or have already left and need a safe environment in which they can adjust in becoming an ideal riding partner and enjoy a “new beginning.”

A couple of horses to to focus on are Goldream better known now as Remy who has been a successful racehorse being a dual Group 1 winner in the 2015 King’s Stand and the Prix de L’Abbay in France and Burrow Seven, who has donated £100,000 to the MND Association through membership sales to his racing club which was launched as an innovative fundraising concept to raise money in response to the Rugby League legend Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis.

Both horses are now Brand Ambassador’s for New Beginnings and British Horse Feeds are looking forward to following their new life as part of the #VersatileFormerRacehorses.

Remy can now be seen at many of the Race meetings at York throughout the summer where he stands all day and allows the racing public to get up close and stroke him. This is often the first time that many race goers will have touched a horse. Remy will also be out and about visiting Hospices giving comfort to those that need it the most. Remy is still a competitive horse and has been reschooled and competes in Dressage.

Burrow who loves attention will visit care homes, hospitals, schools and open days as he begins his new role as an ambassador horse for New Beginnings as well as help with their Thoroughbred Interaction and Engagement programme, (TIE) – in other words he will now be an equine therapy horse!

New Beginnings have grown into an established retraining and rehoming centre who also assist the RoR (Retraining of Racehorses) through their ‘Vulnerable Horse Scheme’ to provide care, compassion and stability for the most vulnerable former racehorses that need that extra help and understanding. At British Horse Feeds and they are proud to be supporting New Beginnings with #FibreBeet and whose vital work would not be possible without generous supporters.
