British Horse Feeds presented Stephen Vaughan with the recognition award for ‘Best Crew Member’ at the British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Festival of Endurance 2022.
Stephen, who is based in the Black Mountains in Wales, was nominated by his wife Georgina Vaughan.
Said Georgina: “Stephen is a massive support, he is the team behind all my results and success. He has been crewing with me for the last 11 years.
“He is always in the right places at the right time to help and not only that but he has our children, a five-year-old and one-year-old, and the dog to look after too.
“I nominated him because I wanted to give him the recognition he deserves and show my appreciation. I couldn’t do it without him.”
Added Hannah Kitching of British Horse Feeds: “This year I was lucky enough to join the crewing teams and have a go myself. It really is an important role and I saw first-hand how hard the teams work to help the horses recover quickly at each gate.
“Stephen stood out to us, not only was he dedicated in helping his wife and her horse but he was also top dad and dog walker too, with two small children and dog to look after throughout the event.”
Stephen helped his wife Georgina and her 12-year-old gelding, Vlacq Journeyman, to second place in the Speedi-Beet Red Dragon 160km ride over the two days.
