Here we catch up with brand ambassador Jennie Daniels and Tilly the Cob. They have been busy at several displays playing the rebel and also triumphed at a spot of side saddle showing.

Another stately home visited with Tilly, this time Blenheim Palace for their Marlborough 300 Pageant.  We did two shows each day; the first I was side saddle as a lady of the court, the second I was astride dressed as a rebel carrying the regimental flag as we took on the troops with gunfire and swords.  Unfortunately, we lost the battle both days, but it was a fantastic event to be part of.

See Jennie and Tilly in action here.

The biggest event of the year for us was the Side Saddle Nationals. What an amazing show! We came away as Reserve Adult Intermediate Rider, winner of the versatile horse and various other amazing placings.

See photos from the Side Saddle Nationals here.

The August bank holiday found us back at Audley End for their Victorian Horses weekend. I always feel so privileged to have the opportunity to ride my horse in such beautiful surroundings.

See Jennie and Tilly in costume here.

In September we were once again at the Festival of the Horse at Belvoir Castle for a display. This year, the amazing Ben Atkinson was the headline act which was fantastic to watch. For our display I was riding as a side saddle lady, having a race and a spot of jumping with my “sister”. See photos here.

Photos from the whole event, which as well as Ben Atkinson, had barrel racing, scurry racing, tent pegging, jousting knights etc – see more.

I also headed back to Blenheim with some friends for the RDA sponsored ride. It gave us the opportunity to ride around parts of the estate you wouldn’t normally get to see. We also got up close to some of the huge cross country jumps!

We attended a local horse show riding astride which was a shock to the system and my legs! Tilly and I finished first in the Cob class, first in Costume Concours D’Elegance class and second in the hunter class. More photos here.

We still have a couple of local shows we are hoping to attend, and I am looking to get back out competing at dressage this winter, with the aim of then competing side saddle.

For the first time, I am looking at joining British Dressage as they have now started a side saddle (summer) section at the championships, so that will give us something else to aim at. This is also the first month for the online side saddle association equitation classes, so it will be interesting to have our first attempt at the open section class which includes leg yields, and halt with rein back to canter!
